Turmeric For Dogs

As we all know that turmeric has been used in dog’s diet from a long time. As I have mentioned this so many times in my article that I have been keeping dogs from my childhood & since then I have seen my mom adding turmeric in their diet although we had no idea how precious this spice is for dogs, what my parents knew about it was that it has an anti-parasitical effects on dogs. But later after my academic when I started  my dog training courses to be a professional, I had to read and study a large number of articles on health & vaccinations too, from where I got to know a ton of advance information about dog health & dog training. In this article I will discuss about the super benefits of turmeric in dog’s diet.

1.       Arthritis: The anti-inflammatory properties present in turmeric are useful to treat dogs with pain & arthritis. Many studies prove that turmeric extracts contain a higher percentage of curcuminoids which is extremely potent in controlling arthritis.

2.       Anti-Microbial: Turmeric is a natural anti-microbial agent which is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal which also reduces the growth of E.coli.

3.       Blood Clots: Turmeric contains Curcumin which is a known component to fight against blood clots that can lead to strokes and heart attacks and also reduces the chance of excess cholesterol in the body.

4.       Digestive bowel: Curcumin also helps to break down the dietary fats from their diet which results in a healthy digestive system.

5.      Anti-Cancer: Turmeric is also known as an anti-cancer component which fights against & shuts down the blood vessels that feed cancer cells & tumors as proven in some cases. In a study at UCLA, doctors found that curcumin seemed to block the cancer promoting enzyme that stimulates the growth of head and neck cancer.

Apart from the above diseases turmeric is also beneficial for treating Epilepsy, helps to prevent the formation of cataracts; turmeric is also anti-oxidant and anti-allergic.

Here is a video where one of the holistic vet Dr. Karen Becker talks about the benefits of turmeric:
